Outlines history of WFD
Chief Alan Poss of the Washington Fire Department was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, March 6. He discussed the 88-year history of the Washington Fire Department from its formation in 1919. Club members were treated to interesting stories of fire truck acquisitions (the department still has all the fire trucks that were ever purchased), notable fires in the city and county over the years, and improvements in fire classification by the department - now a Class 3 department. Above, Chief Poss holds the "Best Reaction Time" competition trophy successively awarded to the department so many times it had to be retired. Bob Simmons was program host for the day.
