Steering Committee planning cookbook, recipes due April 1

On a stormy Thursday night, the North Wilkes Steering Committee met for a soup/salad/dessert dinner at the home of member, Nobie Keener.

In addition to the hostess, the following members were present: Pat Bobo, Sherry Bowers, Margie Bunch, Paula Butts, Brooke Dawson, Margaret Fortson, Carolyn Gammon, Pat Grimaud, Gloria Harris, Cissy Rogers, Jesse Shoemaker, and Chairman Gloria Ware. Members Celeste Adams, Vernilla Clark, and Eudora Huyck were unable to attend.

As the storm worsened, through wind and rain the committee toiled, first through the salads, then the soups and breads; and finally, the choice of four desserts.

Then, with full tummies, we got down to the matter at hand - organizing the soon-to-be-published cookbook. With the anticipation of publishing our cookbook, we are asking the North Wilkes community and friends to share your favorite recipes - giving said recipes to one of the above members by April 1.

It is worthy to mention at this time that we are commemorating those cooks who have gone on before us and who submitted recipes in the original Tignall cookbook. All of those old tried-and-true recipes of long ago are to be held in high esteem and will serve as a cornerstone for our new edition which will be called "Tignall's Famous Recipes - Past & Present."

The committee will meet again on Thursday, April 5.
