Mae Claude Sims Funeral services for Mae Claude Sims, 95, were held at the Reeves Chapel Baptist Church Saturday, March 3, 2007, with Rev. Michael Gresham and Rev. James White officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died February 23 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington. Mrs. Sims was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Mann Gibson and Lottie Mathis Gibson. She joined Reeves Chapel Baptist Church which was founded by her grandfather, Reeves Gibson, and served faithfully until her health failed. She was the widow of Johnny Anderson and Jim E. Sims. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and was a caretaker to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Emma Jean Norman and Willie Eva Norman of Tignall, and Alice Maddox of Atlanta; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Jones of Philadelphia, Penn.; a sister, Rosa Harris of Greenville, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Ray Anderson, Jimmy Jones, Janet Dorsey, Melissa Turman, Marshell Sanders, Terrell Smithwick, Starr Hicks, Lashaun Gleaton, Calvert Wynn, Nicole Norman, and Greg Norman; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; eight step-greatgrandchildren; and five step-greatgreat grandchildren. Great-nephews served as pallbearers.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
