Willa B. Edwards

Funeral services for Willa B. Edwards, 72, were held Monday, February 25, 2007, at Reeves Chapel Baptist Church, Tignall, with Rev. Michael W. Gresham officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died February 22 at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, New York.

Mrs. Edwards was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Hershey Edwards and Della Merriweather Edwards of Tignall. She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School in 1952 and was a member of Reeves Chapel Baptist Church. She moved to Hempstead N.Y., in 1959 and joined Faith Baptist Church in 1964. She served on the former Gospel Chorus and was active in several auxiliaries. She participated in the activities of the Street Ministry and Noon Day Prayer and was active in Women's Auxiliary and Eastern Baptist Association Choir. She also served as a Deaconess of Faith. She was a homemaker and worked as a domestic engineer for many years.

Survivors include two sisters, Lou Neal Walton and Mabel Watts; and a brother, Johnnie Edwards, all of Tignall.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
