School continues, even in the dark; fund-raiser held each Tue., at Pizza Hut
By W-WMS SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS

While students are disappointed to be going to school when it's dark, they are adjusting to the time change. Many of them are getting on the bus when it is still dark. However, school goes on. One advantage to the time change is more daylight hours in the afternoon to participate in spring sports.

At this time we can announce the middle school golf team members. This year's middle school golf team members are Devvin Ferris, Adam Hackney, Rob Lovvorn, and Will Souther. The team is already practicing and looking forward to a successful season.

This year, eighth grade boys were allowed to participate in track and field along with the high school athletes. The middle school track and field athletes are Chad Cordell, Demoris Jackson, Deon Jackson, Desmond Jackson, Teverrius Jones, Eric Scott, and Tyler Stasyshyn. The team will compete on March 20 at Greenbrier in Augusta and then on March 27 in Jefferson.

The JV Tiger baseball team opened its season with a victory over the Wrens Middle School Colts 13- 1 on Wednesday, March 8. Trey McAvoy pitched four innings giving up one run with four strikeouts. David Martin pitched one scoreless inning striking out two batters. McAvoy recorded the win. Trey McAvoy, Robert McGill, James McAvoy, Whit Winfrey, Chase Shelton, Tabor Jackson, Jarrett Gaye, Tom Saggus, Blake Connell, and DJ King all had hits in the win. Trey, Robert, David, Whit, Chase Tabor, Tom Blake, and DaQuan Heard all scored one run each with Tom and Jarrett each scoring twice.

Please join W-WMS in our spring fund-raiser every Tuesday night from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for the entire month of March. Pizza Hut will donate 20 percent of your subtotal to our school. In order for us to receive credit for your purchase, a coupon voucher must be presented when ordering. Coupon vouchers were sent home with middle school students and they are available at the middle school office.
