Those who were able to attend Sunday School and worship services Sunday, March 11, at Phillips Mill Baptist Church got to see the new stained glass windows put in last week. Sixteen windows counting seven on each side and two on the front; plus a new window at the baptistry, have been installed. Thanks to all of you who had a part. When I get where I can attend they will probably be finished and I can give a fuller report. Better yet, perhaps you can get started back, if you are a member or non-member. Spring is in the air. Time to get out and smell the roses, so to speak. New beginnings, see old friends, meet new ones, and just praise the Lord for all his blessings and serve the Lord with gladness. ..Don't forget that God created the world, and that includes you and me. At first everything was good, exactly as God made it. But now we all make wrong choices and commit wrong actions. We live in God's world but go our own way. Somehow we fail to live up to God's standards and so we're guilty. The Bible calls this "sin." Our sins separate us from God. (John 3:19.) And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. We all want to feel good about ourselves, but we experience true meaning only when we connect with our Creator. May each of us strive to be a Christ-like example, the best we can. I have many fond memories of growing up in church and singing "Give Me That Old Time Religion" and "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow." ..Coming up Thursday, March 22, there will be a Georgia Baptist Association WMU Leadership Team Meeting at the Mission Center at 4:45 p.m. Fran Thaxton of County Line Baptist Church is our Georgia Baptist Association WMU Leader. ..Woodville Baptist Church in Greene County will be having a spring revival starting Monday, March 26, and going through Wednesday night, March 28, at 7 p.m. Rev. Larry Wynn from Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula will be the guest speaker. Rev. Farrett Boswell is pastor. Everyone is invited. ..Many in our area are looking forward to the 17th Spring Inspiration Meeting of the Georgia Baptist Association to be held with nearby Beaverdam Baptist Church near Rayle in April, right after Easter on Tuesday evening, April 24, 7-8:30 p.m. So it's time to elect new messengers and turn names in to the Association. The fall meeting in October will be held with County Line Baptist Church between Philomath and Rayle. Rev. John McMillian who has served in the Georgia Association for some time, became new pastor of Beaverdam on January 28. ..Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy enjoyed relatives, Billy and Johnny McAvoy, Henry and Faye McAvoy, Mary Hawes, Dorothy Ann and Jimmy Saxon, and friend Gloria Hardy visiting them. ..Three of the Maxwells of Phillips Mill Baptist Church have been in the hospital recently. Corrie Maxwell was at Athens Regional a few days last week; and sister-in-law Priscilla Maxwell was also at Athens Regional. Doctors were pretty sure there was a blood clot near my brain and were hoping to put a stint in, but praise the Lord, during the procedure they found no clot. I do have blockage in both sides of my neck but at present the blood flow on the 40 percent closure is sending blood into the complete blockage area. I start with another specialist Wednesday of this week.. ..Thursday night, March 8, 911 was called to come pick up Morrison Maxwell and carry him to Wills Memorial Hospital. He almost blacked out. He was put in a regular room Sunday night and was hoping to go home at the time of this writing. Thanks for all your prayers. Corrie's wife Myra had a nice birthday over the weekend. ..Remember. God loves you.
