Frances Wheelis WOM group meets Mar. 5 for Week of Prayer

The Frances Wheelis Women on Mission met in the Conference Room of the First Baptist Church Monday, March 5, for the observance of the Week of Prayer for North American Missions.

Teresa Bishop, mission support chairman, presented the program, "Changing the World," from "Mosaic." She shared a video showcasing mission work in West Virginia, Michigan, Colorado, Alabama, and Arkansas, and continued by telling of work in Washington State, Missouri and Texas. After her program, she offered the prayer calendar focusing on Luke 4:12 and needs and efforts in Northern Africa and the Middle East. After names were given for those with special needs and for the missionaries, she led the closing prayer.

Prior to her program, Melanie Wells presided in the absence of Nancy Madden, facilitator. Louise McClearen led the WMU Watchword and Teresa offered the opening prayer.

A business meeting followed during which time upcoming events were announced and mission action projects were reported and planned.

After the meeting the members adjourned to the Mary Callaway Burton Fellowship Hall for delicious refreshments provided by Julia Palmer, hostess. Teresa Bishop also provided a small birthday cake for a surprise celebration for member, Louise McClearen.

Present were Melanie Wells, Teresa Bishop, Elizabeth Pope, Gail Hunter, Julia Palmer, Cheryl Edwards, Susan Pope, Louise McClearen, and Judy Bland.
