FBC sets Easter cantata for Palm Sunday, April 1, 7 p.m. The Senior Choir and drama department of the First Baptist Church, Washington, will be presenting a beautiful musical drama titled "A Time for Alleluia" on Palm Sunday, April 1, in the sanctuary of the church at 7 p.m. The cantata portrays seasons in the life of Christ and was inspired by the scripture from Ecclesiastes 3:1 which reads: "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." Joseph and Pamela Martin have written moving music and narration portraying various seasons from the life of Christ. The drama cast of more than 35 persons will bring to life some of the following scenes from the life of Christ: the angel proclaims His birth to the shepherds; Mary and Joseph find Jesus teaching in the temple; the baptism of Jesus; the calling of Peter, James, John, An- drew, and Matthew as disciples; the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem; the Lord's Supper; Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane; the betrayal by Judas; Peter's denial of Christ; the crucifixion; and the joy of an empty tomb. The program is directed by Patricia B. Burton, church music director; and Kay Nelms, drama director. Dr. Tony Guthrie, interim pastor of the church, will be the narrator. Mrs. Burton and Tom Duggan are soloists for the presentation. The public is invited to attend the program. Free tickets may be picked up in the church office, but it is not necessary to have a ticket to attend. Church members are encouraged to use the tickets as an outreach to invite friends to the program. A nursery will be provided.
Interested persons may call the church office at 706-678-2912 for more information.
