U.S. Army Research Fellow Major Garrett D. Heath has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel at the RAND Corporation's Arroyo Center in Santa Monica, California.
Lieutenant Colonel Heath is the son of Charles and Myra Heath of Washington and is the Class of 1985 valedictorian at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science in Operations Research/Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School. He and his wife, the former Lisa Pinkston of Thomson, and their two daughters live in California.
RAND's Arroyo Center hosted the promotion ceremony and Major General Ronald L. Johnson, Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, presided.
Major General Johnson was Heath's mathematics professor when he was a cadet at the United States Military Academy. During the past 16 years, Major General Johnson has been Heath's mentor.
Charles and Myra Heath, Antwan, Andrea, and Miles Joseph traveled to Santa Monica to attend the ceremony.
Lieutenant Colonel Heath's next assignment is with the
Deputy Under Secretary of the Army for Business Transformation where he will
serve as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
