Evita A. Paschall enters race for Norwood's seat

Augusta business woman and attorney Evita A. Paschall has announced her intention to seek the Georgia 10th District Congressional seat vacated by the death of U.S. Congressman Charles Norwood.

The daughter of retired school teacher, Lucille Paschall, and dental technician, Marion R. Paschall (both deceased) is a graduate of the University of Georgia Law School. She began practicing law in 1976 as an Assistant District Attorney during Richard Allen's term of office.

From 1984-1986, she served as an Assistant State Court Solicitor and later she was Assistant Magistrate Solicitor and Solicitor of Magistrate Court. She continued to serve until she was selected by the late Charles DeVaney to serve as Recorder Court Judge in 1994.

With a journalism minor, Paschall is a media veteran who began as a newspaper reporter with the Macon Telegraph (1968) and Augusta Focus. She started and published Augusta Today Magazine in Augusta in 1992 before branching out in 2000 to organize a yearly basketball clinic and a youth oratorical scholarship contest for high school students.

Paschall is also the founder of the Spend the Day with a Lawyer program which allows students to spend the day with an attorney.

Having practiced law for over 30 years, Paschall is a trial lawyer focusing on bankruptcy, auto accidents, sports, and entertainment law.

She obtained her undergraduate degree from Howard University and is a Boggs Academy High School graduate. She is married to Felix Andrews and has three children Bryan Andrews, Iman Andrews, and Evita Young Gaillard.
