Emmett R. Winn

Funeral services for Emmett R. Winn, 75, of Athens were held Friday, March 16, 2007, at Lord and Stephens Chapel East, Athens, with Rev. Fred Rowell and Rev. Jerry Horton officiating. Interment was in the Carlton Cemetery. He died March 14.

Mr. Winn was a native of Madison County and was the son of the late Dave S. and Zora Maxwell Winn. He had lived in Athens for 51 years and attended Green Acres Baptist Church. He was retired from the National Life and Accident Insurance Co., and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Gunter Winn of Athens; children, Greg and Vicki Winn, Jefferson, Melanie and Rusty Savage, Watkinsville, Roxanne Glover, Athens, and Steve and Carla Winn, Winterville; two sisters, Mildred Crook, Loganville, and Elizabeth Doolittle, Athens; two brothers, Olis H. Winn, Carlton, and Hollis Winn, Washington; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
