Jillian Wells guest of honor at miscellaneous shower Mar. 17 Jillian Wells, bride-elect of Adam Andrews, was entertained at a miscellaneous shower Saturday morning, March 17, at Hummingbird Hill, home of Richard and Kay Nelms in Logan Woods. Hostesses for the occasion were Judy Coxwell, Gail Craddock, Linda Echols, Ann Hardy, Cindy Hardy, Barbara Henderson, Jan Howard, Kermit Hocutt, Debbie Lindsey, Kay Nelms, Susan Pope, Laura Purdy, Ann Tiller, Melanie Wells and Patsy Winn. For the occasion Miss Wells wore a Navy and ecru print wrap dress complemented by a corsage of white Alstroemeria lilies and gypsophila. A cluster of white balloons on the mailbox led guests to the home where the front door featured a white satin wreath centered with a bridal head adorned with a vintage bridal veil. A large Boston fern was to the side of the door. Guests were welcomed inside and registered on a page from the bride's keepsake scrapbook. Also on the table were the couple's engagement pictures, a black and silver framed shower invitation and a white feather pen. Other white bridal heads were used as accents in the window seat and on the gift tables in the breakfast room. Each featured bridal headpieces and included one that was worn by the bride-elect's mother. Another gift table in the hall was centered with a tall cherub statue. These tables were covered in white with white lace skirting. Miss Wells received her guests in the den. To open her gifts she was seated in a white wicker chair adorned with white tulle, beading and satin ribbon and bows. A delicious assortment of party foods and juice was served from the dining table covered in a tone on tone white cloth. The same fabric was used atop the table in a puddling design and accented with scatterings of iridescent hearts. Centering the table was a silver trumpet vase that held an airy trailing arrangement of Rubrum lilies, yellow chrysanthemums, pink carnations, bells of Ireland, green hydrangea, Monte Casino, hypericum berries, solidago and springeri fern.Guests were also served coffee from a silver service on the hunt board accented with varying height pedestal globes. The hostesses presented the brideelect the sterling silver cake knife in her Burgundy pattern. The brideelect presented thank you gifts to her hostesses.
More than a hundred guests were invited. Special guests attending included the bride-elect's mother, Vonice Wells of Washington; grandmother, Margaret Johnson, and aunt, Jane Smiley, both of Ludowici; and the prospective bridegroom's mother, Cherry Andrews of Washington. Other out-of-town guests included Leigh Oxendine of Augusta, Jackie Perry of Hartsville, S.C., and Jenny Thomas of Maryville, Tenn.
