Katherine Jones, W.E. Burdette IV entertained at engagement party Katherine Jones and W. E. Burdette IV, whose wedding will be May 26, were guests of honor at an engagement party on Saturday, March 3, given by the prospective bridegroom's great-uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. John Harvey Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Strother, at the Edwards home on the Greensboro Road. A Texas Barbecue feted the couple who chose casual attire for the evening. Miss Jones wore jeans and a spring jacket. Her corsage was a Poof Doll stating "I'm Getting Married" and backed with spring ribbons. A Texas color scheme of royal blue and silver was used in decorating and festive tiki torches sported royal blue and silver bows. Tables were set on the lower level deck and spilled into the yard. White cloths covered the tables enhanced with glass mats and blue and white margarita glasses with blue candles. The glasses were later presented to the couple by the hosts. Guests dined on delicious Texas barbecue and all the trimmings. Numerous toasts were given during the evening festivities. Ninety guests attended and included special guests, the brideelect's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Nason of Thomson; the prospective bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hardy and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burdette III. and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burdette and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Stewart, all of Washington.
The bride-elect's father, Kenneth Jones of Thomson, was unable to attend but sent a lovely bouquet of spring flowers to honor the couple.
