Saluting a Hometown Hero
WRDW TV12's Richard Rogers (left) watches as Kristopher Hellmeister, a Banks County football player who was injured in a game against the WW Tigers in September, hugs Wilkes volunteer EMT Bruce Bailey. Bailey was credited with saving Hellmeister's life when he sustained a head injury on the opening play of the game. Bailey's friends and co-workers at Wills Memorial Hospital managed to keep Channell 12's visit, and Hellmeister's, a complete surprise to the last second. The "Hometown Hero" segment will air on Channell 12 tonight at 5.
