'Come on ... Let's make this work'

TO THE EDITOR:

I wish I could attend the County Commissioner's meeting concerning the renovation of the hospital, but right now I still work in Augusta.

As a long time member of the community and faithful taxpayer, I am somewhat taken aback with the apparent reluctance of the County Commission to back the Hospital Authority in this endeavor. Is there a choice? I guess there is - let it break then rebuild?

This hospital is our hospital, the folks of Wilkes County, it's not the Hospital Authority's hospital though they appear to be doing everything to make it a viable institution and a place where sick people now and in the future can receive quality primary care. I applaud the Hospital Authority, the director, and staff for turning the hospital around.

Could something go wrong and Wilkes County be stuck for the note, sure, that's me! Am I willing to take that chance to have a fine hospital within twenty minutes of everyone in Wilkes County (some of you drive real fast)? I sure am.

Come on Commissioners, let's make this work.

DAVID TOBUREN, Ed.D.
