Response to request gives data on trips by cancer volunteers

The response to a request for data on volunteer medical travel offered by the community was impressive.

Washington Area Faith in Action, Inc., the ACS Road to Recovery, and the Area Agency on Aging all appreciate help with this project. The data are essential for a proposal for the financial assistance which is available in other counties.

Volunteers are reported to have made more than 200 non-Medicaid trips in the last 12 months to Augusta, Athens, Atlanta, and Thomson for a total of nearly 40,000 miles. We are a giving community - even much more than the figures show.

Data have been submitted to the Regional Transportation Office in support of a proposal for some kind of mileage cost reimbursement plan for the future.
