Phillips Mill Baptist Church plans special Easter Sunday morning services, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with an early morning service followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall. (Please sign up in the vestibule.) At 10 a.m. there will be Sunday School for all ages. At 11 a.m. the worship service will feature the choir cantata and dedication of our beautiful new stained glass windows. We hope all who had a part in any way will be able to attend all or a part. Hopefully everyone else will feel welcome to attend. This dedication service on April 8 so happens to run close to 100 years after the dedication of our present building which was dedicated on May 11-12, 1907. As far as anyone knows, the stained glass that circled the tops of the "old windows" in shades of fancy pink, blue, yellow, and frosty clear were original. The church dates back to May 7, 1785. ..Phillips Mill Baptist Church's oldest member, Paul Davisson, will be celebrating his 98th birthday Thursday, April 5. He is not able to get out much these days so it would be nice for him to receive cards. The address is Paul Davisson, P.O. Box 207, Washington. Happy birthday, Mr. Paul. ..Nell Rucker Sisson (Mrs. Robert) McAvoy of Austell, her son, David Sisson, and his wife were among visitors of Dan and Mildred McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy the past week. ..Lee Maxwell of Atlanta came Friday morning and carried his mother, Priscilla, to her hip doctor in Athens. X-rays looked good, but "Old Arthur" seems to be present and perhaps his twin McArthur. It could be some competing going on. More local therapy was arranged by the doctor. Lee helped prepare supper for all the family to enjoy together before returning home that night. ..Don't forget Phillips Mill's Easter egg hunt this Saturday morning, March 31, at 10:30 a.m. until noon. Anyone who would like to help with refreshments, please contact Angie Roth if you have not.

..Also on Saturday, March 31, the 50th wild game supper will be held nearby at the Sharon-Raytown Community Center. Serving begins at 5 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. A big variety of good food will be available and something for everyone; I understand from ham to rattlesnake. It has been a while since we attended one of their suppers but I have always heard nice things about it. You might want to try some Taliaferro County cooking. ..Churches of the Georgia Baptist Association are encouraged to keep in mind the upcoming Spring meeting of the Georgia Baptist Association to be held on Tuesday, April 24, 7-8:30 p.m., with Beaverdam Baptist Church in Wilkes County, located on Beaverdam Road, just off Highway 78 between Rayle and the airport which is across the road from Callaway Plantation. The church family and Rev. John McMillian, pastor, and his wife Peggy are real excited. So am I. I don't have far to go. ..Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Keith Donaldson, 29, of Beaumont, Texas, who passed away Sunday morning, March 18, in a house fire very much like the fire that took the life of Dewey Johnson of Commerce in December 2006. Keith was a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Amason "Butch" Sisson, brother of Mrs. Maude Sisson Griffith, and the late John Loyd Sisson. A half-brother of Lois Lunceford (Mrs. Warren) Nunn, Mrs. Vera Lunceford Williamson, and the late Lila Lunceford Young. Among relatives from Georgia attending Keith's funeral in Clyde, N.C., Friday, March 23, were Elliott "Bug" Nunn of Macon; his father, Warren Nunn of Washington; Mrs. Beverly Young Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Young of Washington; Beverly Williamson Williams of Augusta; Beverly's brother Freddie Williamson and his wife of Nashville, Tenn.; Mickey and Nancy Sisson, his sister Faye McAvoy and her husband, Henry McAvoy, of Phillips Mill. There could have been others. If it was, I would appreciate knowing. I know his parents appreciated the love in action shown. ..Thanks to all adults who had a part in the nice parade of children who play on different baseball teams Saturday in Downtown Washington. Your patience, love, time, and guidance are appreciated more than you know. ..Remember, God loves you.
