Ava Simmons honored at first birthday party
For her party Ava wore a white shirt trimmed in pink with a letter "A" on the lapel with her black poodle skirt. Pink crinolines peeped out as she modeled for her guests. Many of the guests' attire continued the 1950's theme as they were invited to dress as Sandy, Rizo or Marty from the movie, "Grease." Balloons, pink flamingos, paper lanterns and party mobiles greeted guests upon arrival. Inside the home a large mobile of vintage 45 records and pink boas, accented with pastel ribbon and bright yellow, green and pink glass balls hung about the featured table. The focal point of the room was Ava's cake, a two-tiered creation of light and dark pink with chocolate dots and Camellia accents. The top layer was adorned with a large initial "A". In addition to cake and ice cream guests enjoyed a festive pink punch with maraschino cherries. Party foods included a vegetable tray, chicken drummettes, spinach dip and crackers, chips and salsa, blackeyed pea caviar and crab dip. Plates and napkins were designed in pink, green and yellow stripes with her initial "A". Party favors for the children included brightly-colored sunglasses, drinking straws and water guns.
Forty guests attended the party. Maternal and paternal grandparents were present along with great uncles and aunts.
