Augusta McDonald's manager named as one of best in nation

Manager James Partridge has been named one of McDonald's Corporation's top one percent of restaurant managers across the entire U.S. system. He manages a store in Augusta for owner David Cravens, also his father-in-law. Only 133 store managers nationwide were selected for the honor.

The prize package for each includes a cash award, a Ray Kroc award trophy and pin and a trip to Chicago for a banquet in their honor, hosted by McDonald's USA President Don Thompson.

The McDonald's Ray Kroc Managers Award is based on achieving superior results in selected areas of performance. Recipients must be able to show clear and convincing evidence of their excellence in quality, service, cleanliness, people, and sales. As captain of his restaurant team, the Ray Kroc Award Manager must show a decrease in employee turnover and significant and steady sales increases.

Partridge, 29, was born and raised in Augusta. He was an honor graduate at Lakeside High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, with degrees in mechanical engineering and mathematics. Partridge joined McDonald's as a manager trainee in 2004 after leaving a corporate engineering job because he found working in a cubicle limiting.

"Ray Kroc said that 'McDonald's is not a hamburger business, it's a people business,'" said Partridge. "I wanted to get out of a stuffy cubicle and into the business of serving and meeting people. I was looking for opportunity and growth that would come to me as quickly as I chased it. I found that opportunity and a place to exercise my passion for people at McDonald's. This is where I'm going to stay and where I hope to one day become an owner/ operator."

"James Partridge is the most outstanding manager I have ever worked with," said Cravens. "His drive, dedication and commitment to the brand and to the delivery of excellence is unsurpassed. He is truly an ambassador for the brand. We are thrilled that James has been named a Ray Kroc Award winner."

In recognition of his achievement, Partridge will be featured on a special trayliner for all of the 700+ restaurants in the four-state Atlanta Region. The commemorative trayliners will be in stores toward the end of March.

Kroc built the McDonald's business on the belief that greatness can be achieved only through the dedication and support of a company's people. The award was named after him based on his commitment to people and recognizing their contributions to the organization he helped establish.

Partridge and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Augusta, and are the proud parents of three-week-old daughter, Sarah Grace. Partridge is a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta and is an avid fundraiser for local schools and community organizations, as well as for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
