B-team beats Lincoln 10-7; seven Tigers post 11 hits

The Washington-Wilkes High School Tiger B-Team baseball team had a successful win against the Lincoln County Red Devils last Wednesday, March 21.

Graham Echols pitched the first two innings in his first showing of the season, providing rest for other pitchers.

The W-W Tigers lead the Red Devils 2-1 in the first but fell to a tie at 3-3 in the second inning. Kelley Roberts relieved Echols and pitched the third through fifth innings allowing only one run to score while notching four strikeouts.

In the fourth inning W-W came alive and scored five more runs making the score 8-3. In the sixth, D.J. Barnett stepped onto the mound and blanked Lincoln while striking out the side. The Tigers continued to lead the Red Devils in the seventh frame by scoring two more runs. And despite a late attempt at a comeback, Lincoln didn't have enough and the Tigers held onto a victory with a score of 10-7.

Graham Wolfe led the Tigers in batting with two hits, one a double with two RBIs. Spencer Swinson had two hits with two RBIs. Zach Murray had two hits with one RBI and a walk. Lee Thomson had two hits and Matson Keiser had one hit and a walk. Clint Echols had one hit and Rodney Bowling had one double.
