Bonnie Bounds tours London on study of Sherlock Holmes' era

Bonnie Bounds, a freshman Honors student at the University of Georgia, recently joined fellow students traveling to London as part of the Honors Colloquia Seminar "Sherlock Holmes and the Victorian Culture."

The trip was designed to study the insights into late-nineteenth-century Britain provided by Holmes' literature.

In addition to seeing the usual sites such as Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, the Museum of London, and St. Paul's Cathedral, the group also visited the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Hampton Court Palace, and Apsley House. Of particular interest was a guided "Jack the Ripper" Evening Walk through Whitechapel.

In addition to scheduled activities, members of the group enjoyed attending several plays, sightseeing and shopping in Knightsbridge, home of Harrod's, and experiencing the culture of London.
