Wilkes 4-H horse judging team attends Clemson training clinic

Carly Cosby, Karlee Feist, Megan Gowan, and Andrea Hill, all members of the Wilkes Couty 4-H horse judging team, attended a horse judging training clinic at Clemson University on March 31. The workshop included training on conformation, hunter under saddle, western pleasure, horsemanship, reining, English equitation, western riding, and giving oral reasons.

The workshop was presented by the Clemson University Horse Judging team and in conjunction with the Jasmine Jubilee S. C. Quarter Horse show. Adult leaders who also attended the clinic were Jeanne Gowan and Debbie Merkert.

The horse judging competition will be held at UGA's horse facility on Milledge Avenue May 5, 2007. There are currently two senior and eight junior members of the team. Anyone who is interested in joining the team is encouraged to do so soon by calling the UGA cooperative extension office for more information.
