Blackmons entertain family members during tour weekend Steve and Eleanor Blackmon entertained her first cousins and spouses during the Tour of Homes weekend at their home on North Alexander Avenue. Prior to the weekend festivities, the Blackmons met all of their weekend guests at Callaway Gardens for a three-day round of activities. All enjoyed the beautiful gardens and sights in the area. On Wednesday night, they were joined for dinner by Phillip, Carol and Bradley Blackmon of Columbus. The trip was a special occasion as they gathered for an extensive tour of the Roosevelt Rehab Center at Warm Springs where one of the guests, Ara Griffin, was a patient being treated for polio in 1942. While on the tour Mrs. Griffin was very pleasantly surprised to meet two other visitors who were patients at the center at the same time she was, making for a very memorable reunion. After the stay at Callaway Gardens, the group traveled to Washington where they were guests either in the Blackmon home or at The Fitzpatrick Hotel. All were dinner guests in the Blackmon home on Friday night where the Blackmons' daughter, Myra Blackmon of Ath- ens, joined the family as a dinner and overnight guest. Saturday the group enjoyed the festivities of the Tour of Homes and returned to the Blackmon home for dinner in the evening.
Joining the Blackmons were Ara and Bill Griffin of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; Arabeth Johnston of Denver, Colo.; Nancy Jones of Greensboro, N.C.; Carolyn and Tom Pappendick of Wilmington, N.C.; Rebecca and Ralph Rigger of Monkton, Md.; Mary and Sam Rogers of Tallahassee, Fla.; and Sandra and Jim Shoaf of Lexington, N.C.
