Promote regeneration of hospital
Wills Memorial Hospital CEO Marvin Goldman (left) and Lawrence Burton, chairman of the Wills Memorial Hospital Authority, spoke to the Washington Rotary Club at its regular meeting on Thursday, April 5, and told members of the need for a "regenerated" facility due to deterioriation of the current 46-year-old structure. The outlined a plan for a bond issue to finance the project and pointed out that if the county backs the loan as requested, there would be no tax money spent on the project unless the hospital fails or becomes unable to pay. They also emphasized that Medicare "pass-through" expenses would cover most of the payments, especially in the first several years. Director of Nursing Jane Echols (center) was program host for the day.
