Woman's Club members hear informative program by Currie

Woman's Club guest speaker Walter Currie fields a question from a club member as others listen intently.
Retired attorney Walter Currie presented an informative program for members and guests at the meeting of the Washington Woman's Club Monday, April 9, at the clubhouse.

Introduced by Dean Mansfield, Mr. Currie, who resides in Asheville, N.C. and Danburg, spoke on estate planning, wills and trusts, and answered questions from the group at the close of his presentation. Mrs. Currie accompanied her husband to the meeting.

Prior to his presentation Vivian Walker, president, presided. Bunny Gunby offered the devotional and prayer and led the Pledge to the Flag.

Following the meal and program, a business session was held. Jo Randall announced several events pertaining to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Laura Toburen, nominating committee chairman, reported the slate of officers for the following years as Vivian Walker, president; Ashley Barnett, vice-president; Dean Mansfield, assistant vice-president; Mary McPherson, secretary; Mary Donna Lunceford, treasurer; Paula Butts, chaplain; and Susan Branan, parliamentarian.

During an update on the Tour of Homes, Cheryl Bentley noted there were 117 luncheon plates sold. Other updates will come at the May meeting.

Hostesses for the April luncheon meeting were Amy Johnston and Ashley Barnett who decorated using an Easter motif.
