First Methodist sets concert of favorites Sunday afternoon

The Chancel Choir of the First United Methodist Church will present a concert of favorite anthems, instrumental music, and solos on Sunday afternoon, April 15, at three o'clock.

The concert is free to anyone who would like to attend and a love offering will be taken to benefit the church's building fund. Construction of the proposed new fellowship hall is expected to begin in just a few weeks.

The program will consist of 10 to 12 anthems as well as instrumental pieces by pianist Janet Pharr, organist Belle Guin; and soloists, Maggie Cravens, Bruce Holes, Vickie Wang, Darren Pharr, Darla Ward, and Tommy Wells. Randy Strother will be playing the banjo.

"A real favorite of the choir and congregation will be 'He Never Failed Me Yet' which features the men of the choir," says Shay Harris, director.

Members of the choir are sopranos: Pat Niemann, Shari Bryson, Maggie Cravens, Deb Talley, Vickie Wang, Debbie Holes, Lisa Isham, and Debra Harper; altos: Belle Guin, Kay Bray, Darla Ward, and Laura Toburen; tenors: Tommy Wells, Michael Moore, and Darren Pharr; and basses: Bruce Holes, Skeet Willingham, Rich Seibert, and George Brooks.

Tony Powell is the sound technician for the program.
