Tour was a highlight again this year The 2007 Tour of Homes committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all who were involved for the dedicated hard work that went into making this year's Tour a success. First, we would like to express our humble appreciation to the homeowners who were so gracious in allowing visitors to tour their homes. We realize that you worked long hours for many weeks preparing your homes to be the showplaces that they, indeed, were. Every single tour home was immaculate, beyond beautiful, and quite interesting. Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. So many people of all ages served as hosts or hostesses in the homes. The homeowners couldn't have done it without you. One homeowner commented that she had so much fun and had excellent helpers. The Tour car drivers, as always, were a big plus for the Tour. Visitors are always so complimentary of the pleasant, accommodating drivers. As usual, the Kiwanians did a superb job with this task. Thank you so much. We know that many of you put more than 200 miles on your cars that day. You did a great job with the signage that marked Tour destinations. The new signs were a definite improvement. We are also grateful for the use of several church buses that were used for Tour transportation. Thanks also to local law enforcement for their assistance. To the Museum, the Toombs Home, and the Callaway Plantation, thanks for your part in making the Tour a diversified, educational, and enjoyable experience for our guests. The young girls attired in antebellum costumes certainly added an extra flair. Thank you for making the day more authentic and beautiful. To the ladies of the Woman's Club who planned, decorated the clubhouse, and prepared a delicious sitdown meal, then cleaned afterwards, we owe a huge debt of gratitude. The meal was, as always, beautiful and delectable. A special thanks goes out to the 4-H members who acted as servers. One hundred twenty meals were served to guests. Also thanks to the Methodist Church for a wonderful meal. The food was great as usual and was served so beautifully. The Church of the Mediator also provided delicious food. Thanks to you also. To all the Bed and Breakfasts, restaurants, and motels who so graciously catered to the needs of our guests, we appreciate you. The Chamber of Commerce/Welcome Center went above and beyond the call of duty as they constantly answered phones and fielded questions concerning the Tour. They also graciously allowed us to sell tickets from their area during the days leading up to the Tour, as well as, the day of the Tour. They were also instrumental in assisting with publicity in so many ways. We are thankful for the wonderful relationship that we have with them. Thanks to the Elementary School for allowing us to use their facility as headquarters and a parking area for guests and a departure and return point for the Tour cars. Also thanks to the ladies who spent their entire day there selling tickets and greeting visitors. Merchants stayed open later on Friday evening to accommodate visitor shopping. Some were also open on Sunday afternoon. We appreciate your efforts in making the visit for our guests more pleasant. A million thanks to our newspaper, The News-Reporter, for all they did. Each week prior to the Tour, they featured one of the Tour homes with a picture and detailed information about each house. They also produced a beautiful color insert in the paper just prior to the Tour and also printed additional inserts that were provided for all guests at the headquarters and at the Chamber/ Welcome Center. Our local radio station did a wonderful job of providing publicity that was certainly appreciated. To the entire town of Washington for sprucing up your property so that our guests could see what a truly beautiful town we have, thank you. The Spring Tour of Homes, for many years, has been a highlight for the town of Washington as it was again this year. It took so many people to make the 2007 Tour a success and we are indebted to each of you and surely hope that we have not overlooked anyone. When all the facts were gathered, we found that our numbers were only a few shy of the 2006 Tour. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! DEAN MANSFIELD for the 2007 Tour of Homes Committee
