Preparing for National Day of Prayer
Laura Toburen (l) and Rev. Gale Seibert compare notes in preparation for the May 3 observance of the National Day of Prayer. The local observance, led by Wilkes Ministers United, will be held at noon on The Square in Washington, and everyone is encouraged to come and take part, Toburen said. The U.S. Congress set aside the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer in 1988 to encourage communities around the country to take time to pray for leaders and those in authority at the local, state, and national levels.
