Participate in Duke's TIP
Two outstanding students at Washington-Wilkes Middle School recently participated in the Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP). The mission of Duke's TIP is to identify academically talented students and to provide model programs and services to support the development of their optimal educational potential. The SAT and ACT test administrations for these seventh graders are exactly the same as that of high school juniors and seniors preparing for college admission. These above-level tests provide more information about their academic abilities, so that they can effectively plan for their high school years. Participating from Debbie McLeod's class this year are Adam Hackney and Brittany Guin. Brittany's scores were high enough to qualify for an invitation to the state ceremony held in Atlanta. "We are very proud of these students and will continue to enrich, motivate, and challenge these bright young people of Wilkes County," said W-WMS Counselor Libby Swinson.
