I received this interesting item by e-mail. It is amazing that our government can track a single cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow. ..There was an article in the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution with the University of Georgia spring award winners. Casey Nickels was mentioned as the outstanding walk on in offense. Congratulations, Casey. ..We are glad to report that Larry Fort is doing well with his treatments. He is even able to take a trip to Texas. Larry and Penny are spending a week with their son, Neal Fort, and his wife Darla and the three grandchildren. That is wonderful news! ..Let's keep Frances Vinson in our prayers. She has seven more weeks of physical therapy at Elbert County Hospital. She is weak and unsteady on her feet. She says she misses going to church most of all. Members of Tignall Baptist Church certainly miss her too and hope that this therapy will get her back in church real soon. ..Visiting Easter weekend with Nita Riley were her granddaughter and family, Ruth and Edward Cole and little Olivia from Tallahassee, Fla. They all joined the John Harvey Edwards family at the Episcopal Church in Washington Sunday. After church service they were all guests of John Harvey and Laverne Edwards for dinner. They enjoyed visiting with John Harvey, Laverne, and their children. ..Myrline and Jerry Thornton had a huge crowd with them for dinner on Easter Sunday. They were Carol, Morgan and Whitney Rutherford of McDonough; Alicia Thornton, Robert and Nicholas Randolph, all of Nicholson; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bowcock, Alexis and Lindsey of Jackson; Ila Jacobs of Macon; Rudy and Mary Jacobs of Monticello; Allen Thornton, Helen Truitt, Roy Thornton, Jeff and Jennifer Thornton of Athens; and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fincher of Lexington. Many of these family members attended church with Myrline. She received a basket of flowers and a corsage. Visiting with Myrline from Tuesday through Friday of last week were Pat and Amy Paul, Amanda, Caroline and Patrick of Oxford, Michigan. ..We were saddened to hear of the death of Marilyn Albea Armour. I remember riding on the school bus with her when she lived in the Norman community. She was a very pretty curly blond haired girl who was a cheerleader for the Tignall basketball team. ..We extend sympathy to the family of Mary Will Warren Dunson, who was the daughter of Frank and Angie Warren. Mr. Frank Warren had a dry goods store in Tignall. Mary Will had been living in Gainesville, F la., for some time. She is survived by two daughters, Angie and Lou. Mary Will was a dear friend of my mother, Mrs. Curtis Dunaway. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warren lived next door to my family on Independence Street when I was a teenager. The
Miss Angie's Punch recipe that many people in this community use came from Angie Warren. ..Tignall Baptist Church enjoyed Carol McTier's wonderful talent in singing
Gone Sunday morning. I forgot to mention last week that our two children's choirs did a super performance Easter morning. ..Albert and Eudora Huyck spent Easter weekend with Lem and Ellen LeRoy in Charlotte, N.C. ..Kay Tyler, Pat Bobo, and Carolyn Gammon attended the beautiful wedding of Ashley Branan and Brad Sheffield Saturday evening at the First United Methodist Church in Athens along with many, many people from Wilkes County. They arrived very early, they thought, because there were no other cars in the parking lot. They commented on how early they were and noticed as they sat there that no other guests were arriving. Finally after sitting there a while they noticed a sign with the words First Baptist Church on it. When they got to the right church, they found they weren't so early after all. ..Margaret Fortson visited for a little over a week with Evelyn Wray in Canover, N.C. ..Christine Burton had surgery last week and we are glad to report that she is doing well. Her daughter, Louanne Morris of Evans, has been with her for a few days.
