Auction planned to benefit Relay for Life; packages to be displayed at local events Leading up to the Relay for Life event set for May 4, Wilkes Countians will have an opportunity to bid on some unique items in a silent auction. "We have gathered some unique packages," says Cathy Lannae, auction organizer. The auction is sponsored by the Relay for Life Planning Committee with donations provided by area businesses and individuals There will be 12 distinct and different packages ranging in opening bids from $25 to $125. The packages are listed below. Fountain Salon & Spa. Lafayette Manor - one night and breakfast for two. Double D Maintenance - flower-bed, installation of annuals and maintenance for one month. The Garden Party Floral Package - three mixed floral arrangements. Washington Dance Academy - lesson package for couples group lesson. Pie-a-Month - six months, six pies. Bunny Boyd - horse riding lessons. Talk of the Town - gift basket. Culinary Adventures Delivered by Chef Ben LeGette. Barbecue dinner for four. Sugar Magnolias by Aunt Sara - dessert of the month for 12 months. Chimney sweep service - springtime check-up. Descriptions and bidding sheets will be displayed at the Washington Farmers Market Saturday, April 21, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. They will be displayed again on April 27 and 28 during the Arts Festival weekend at the Chamber of Commerce on The Square between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and finally at the Relay for Life Cancer Survivors Dinner at the Third Shiloh Center between 5 and 7 p.m. All packages are tax deductible and all proceeds benefit the Relay for Life for Wilkes County. Relay for Life, Wilkes County, the American Cancer Society's all night event to fight for a cure for cancer, will be held Friday, May 4, 7 p.m., to May 5, 7 a.m., at the Washington Wilkes Parks and Recreation Center track on Lexington Avenue.
