PERSONALITIES! Ashley Branan guest of honor at luncheon at Café Trumps

Ashley Branan was honored on Friday, April 13, with a lovely luncheon at Café Trumps at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens.

The luncheon was hosted by the bride-elect's aunts, Mrs. Tom Ellerbee of Watkinsville and Mrs. Joe Parsons of Williamsburg, Va. Family friends, Mrs. Charlie Jordan of Alpharetta and Mrs. Jim Burton of Washington, were also hostesses.

Miss Branan greeted her guests on the terrace of the Café and invited them to sign a ceramic platter that she would keep as a memento of the day.

For the occasion Miss Branan selected a black and white floral print sundress with matching black sandals to wear for the celebration. She was presented a corsage of hot pink spray roses.

The terrace was decorated with umbrellas and the railings around the terrace were draped with pink and black tulle and smilax. The pink and black color scheme was used throughout continuing with the napkins and placecards.

Tables were covered with white linens and centered with black clay pots of hot pink impatiens. The luncheon setting overlooked a beautiful garden area that was in full bloom.

Special guests for the luncheon were Mrs. W.C. Branan, mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Ralph Sheffield, mother of the prospective bridegroom; Mrs. Leonard Cobb, grandmother of the bride-elect; the bride-elect's sister, Mrs. Bobby Wil- liamson, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Douglas Branan.

After Mrs. Jim Burton offered a special blessing, a delicious luncheon of vegetable quiche, fruit compote, broccoli salad, pink lemonade and lemon bar mousse was served

The bride-elect chose this occasion to present the bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids monogrammed tote bags, floating pearl necklaces with matching earrings and decorated slippers to be worn at the wedding reception. Monogrammed totes were also presented to the hostesses with ceramic crosses and silver handle umbrellas. The hostesses presented Miss Branan silver monogrammed placecard holders.

Mrs. W.C. Branan presented the bride-elect with her own special tote, a bridal memory book, bridal slippers, and a custom designed garter made by Mrs. Branan of ivory satin and lace. The garter also held a sixpence used by Mrs. Branan on her wedding day, May 4, l980.

The afternoon continued with the bride-elect thanking her hostesses and wedding party and sharing special remembrances of each one. She concluded with a special tribute to her mother.

Some 30 guests attended the luncheon. Those attending from Washington or with Washington connections were Mrs. Martin Burgess, Mrs. Barry Thompson, Molly Burgess, Mrs. Brent Marable and Mrs. James Patridge.
