JV Tigers shutout Patriots but fall short against GMC

SPENCER SWINSON STROKES A HIT IN A RECENT GAME The JV Tigers split against Oglethorpe and GMC last week.
Clint Echols pitched an outstanding game for the JV Tigers against Ogelthorpe at Tiger Field on March 26 when he allowed only two hits the entire game with 14 strikeouts as the Tigers shutout Ogelthorpe with a final score of 8-zip. Echols also had 2 RBIs with a pair of doubles and a walk.

Zach Murray collected two RBIs on one hit; Graham Echols got an RBI; D.J. Barnett had 2 doubles with an RBI; while Trent Martin, Matson Keiser, Preston Hardin, and Graham Wolfe also had hits. Spencer Swinson reached on a walk.

The Tigers didn't fare so well against the GMC Bulldogs at Tiger Field on April 9 following spring break. The Bulldogs started the first inning with a homerun over the left field fence. But the Tigers were able to score one run in the first as well to keep it even at 1-1.

Starting pitcher Clint Echols logged 3 strikeouts in the first two innings as both teams showed strong defense allowing no more runs.

Graham Echols came on as pitcher in the third and fourth with two strikeouts. But the Bulldogs still managed to score two runs reclaiming the lead at 3-1. Murray pitched in the fifth and sixth with two strikeouts and no runs allowed. The Tiger offense rallied and evened it up again scoring two more to make 3-3.

Barnett took the mound to finish the game but the 'Dogs scored three runs despite a Barnett strikeout.

Echols had an RBI and a hit, and other hits were collected by Swinson, Barnett, and Murray with walks by Keiser, Barnett and Murray. Final score was 6-3.
