Funshine Child Care accredited

Washington's Funshine Child Care has successfully participated in the Homes of Quality program, earning the Home of Merit accreditation. The Homes of Quality program is a voluntary designation to recognize family childcare and group child care providers who provide a rich, interactive learning environment for children.

"Congratulations Julie W. Berry, family daycare home provider, for earning the Home of Merit certificate," said Bright from the Start's commissioner, Marsha H. Moore. "The certificate means that the provider has shown improvements in the areas to protect children's health and safety, building positive relationships and providing stimulating opportunities for children to learn from their experiences."

In 1999, the childcare licensing section of the Department of Human Resources, now known as "Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning" published "Growing Smart and Healthy Babies." "Growing Smart and Healthy Babies" lists voluntary guidelines providers can use to maximize learning opportunities for children.
