UGA athlete inspires local students
Danny Verdun-Wheeler, senior linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs and NFLdraft hopeful, visited Washington-Wilkes Middle School and Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School and spoke to several groups of students about the importance of education. As an excellent example of a scholar athlete, Verdun-Wheeler encouraged students to live respectfully, learn as much as possible, and be the best at whatever they attempt to do in life. He is a 2003 graduate of Thomson High School where he led the Bulldogs to the AAAA state championship, was a first team All-State selection, and was named Georgia's AAAA Defensive Player of the Year.
