The Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its third annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon Friday at the Mary Willis Library.

Honored guests for the luncheon were First Vice President of the Council, East Central District Directors Bill and Anne Jones, along with Wills Memorial CEO Marvin Goldman and Director of Nursing Jane Echols.

"Our honored guests also included 23 fantastic volunteers who perform a variety of services for the hospital," said Pat Niemann, director of Volunteer Services. After a luncheon of southwest chicken fajita salad, broccoli salad, chocolate cake, and tea prepared by Sissy Murray and her staff, Goldman expressed his appreciation to the volunteers and presented award pins. The volunteer with the longest service was Peggy Barnett with 21 years.

A crazy hat contest was the highlight of the luncheon, Niemann said. She won first place with a spring bonnet with real springs. Kay Nelms' feathered anniversary hat took second place, and Bill Jones took third with a pin hat.
