New Zaxby's opens in Washington, giving locals another dining choice Zaxby's district manager Ted Lisowski opened the doors to Washington's first Zaxby's restaurant, located at 1011 E. Robert Toombs Avenue, on Monday, April 30. After hosting a few "Z.I.P." introductions last weekend, the new restaurant saw a large turnout for its first day of operation and the volume still continues as the public gets used to having another choice for lunch and dinner. Chamber of Commerce members, teachers, community leaders, and others were invited to sample the Zaxby's fare at events held prior to the opening. It was the first opportunity for employees in training to get a real feel for what they will be doing now that the restaurant is open. Zaxby's employees from other locations were on hand for the training and to model proper etiquette. Zaxby's, a Southeast favorite for chicken fingers and Buffalo wings, will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. "We are pleased to offer Washington residents their first Zaxby's location," said Lisowski, a 30-year restaurant industry veteran. "Zaxby's exceptional taste and family atmosphere is what first attracted me to this restaurant concept - I am confident Washington residents will become as passionate about it as I am." The new Washington restaurant showcases Zaxby's unique interior design, featuring a bright, open interior decor, complemented by vintage memorabilia and signage. The 3,495-square-foot restaurant will provide comfortable booths and tables, with a seating capacity of 89. Zaxby's also provides phone-in and drive-thru services. Lisowski believes the restaurant - from the atmosphere to the service - will exceed community expectations. "We've assembled a great team of over 40 associates who, we are confident, will deliver on the Zaxby's mission to 'consistently create encore experiences that enrich lives one person at a time,'" he said. The new Washington Zaxby's is the first for Wilkes County and the 159th for the state of Georgia State as the chain continues its expansion throughout the Southeast. Zaxby's currently operates more than 375 restaurants in 10 states. An alternative to fast food, Zaxby's offers fresh, prepared-atorder chicken fingers, wings, sandwiches, and salads, as well as innovative appetizers and eight unique sauces with flavors ranging from "Wimpy" to "Insane."
Zaxby's is a "quick-casual" restaurant chain headquartered in Athens. The chain opened its first restaurant in Statesboro in March 1990, and by July 2001 had opened its 100th location in Jacksonville, Florida. Zaxby's celebrated its 200th restaurant opening in its hometown of Athens in May 2004, and in December 2005 observed its 300th opening in Dallas, Georgia.
