Vanessa Wilson and Clay Patrick treated to cookout celebration Apr. 7

Engaged couple Vanessa Wilson and Clay Patrick of Guyton were treated to a cookout celebration at the home of Glen and Jane Echols in Tignall on Saturday, April 7. Cohosts for the occasion were Jerry and Laura Wellmon of Shelby, N.C., Jim and Linda Echols of Conyers and Steve and Marie Echols of Tignall.

For the celebration the bride-elect wore white slacks and a black sweater. She was presented a corsage of white daisies and red minicarnations.

Red and white checked cloths covered the tables. Many tables were decorated with tin buckets of daisies, roses and greenery while others featured tin buckets with candles.

A cookout of hamburgers and hot dogs with all the delicious accompaniments was enjoyed. A cake, decorated with "Congratulations Vanessa and Clay," topped off the dinner.

A special highlight during the evening was a presentation to the couple made by the bride-elect's father and "Mama II", Jerome and Becky Wilson, of crocheted table runners that had been handmade by the bride-elect's great-grandmother, the late Estelle Echols of Tignall. Also presented to them was a special cookbook of the bride-elect's grandmother, the late Emma Wilson of Tignall, filled with her own recipes and little notations.

Seventy guests were invited. Special guests included Gene and Candy Hopkins of Washington; Jerome and Becky Wilson, Kyle, Clete and Drew, and James and Rebecca Echols, of Tignall; Edd and Evelyn Patrick, Eddie and Betty Jean Andrews and Glenda Riner of Swainsboro; and Joanne Lane of Twin City.
