Katherine Jones entertained at morning coffee, shower April 28

Katherine Jones of Thomson, bride-elect of W.E. Burdette IV, was entertained at a morning coffee and miscellaneous shower Saturday, April 28, at the home of June Baston. Entertaining with Mrs. Baston were Cherry Andrews, Pauline Bell, Betty Blackmon, Debbie Bennett, Jerry Denard, Joan Geddings, Bobbie Ann Griffin, Lavenia Henderson, Rosemary Hopkins, Laverne Kilgore, Mary Donna Lunceford and Mable Tucker.

As guests arrived, they signed the bride's book placed atop a mirrored oak chest that held a crystal budvase of fresh flowers, candles and a framed invitation.

On the patio mimosas were served from a linen-covered marble top garden table adorned with a beautiful hydrangea. The patio was bedecked with a variety of urns and garden pots of flowering spring annuals.

Guests sat at umbrella-covered wrought iron tables.

A delicious brunch buffet of mixed fruit, breakfast casseroles, cheese grits, mini muffins, and rum cake squares were served from silver appointments on the dining room table covered with a damask cloth and centered with a tall vase of colorful spring flowers. Coffee, water and juice were served from a side buffet.

For the coffee, the bride-elect wore ivory slacks topped with an ivory and brown tunic that featured an empire waist and spaghetti straps. The hostesses presented her a beautiful hand-cut crystal beverage bucket.

Miss Jones offered each hostess an ivy plant in appreciation for her hospitality.

Sixty family members and friends attended. Joining in the celebration with the bride-elect were her sister and maid of honor, Emily Holley of Camak; and bridesmaids, Lindsey Rogers of Washington and Kimberly Bentley of Rayle. Liz Hansford of Augusta was unable to attend.
