Wilkes students to graduate from Briarwood May 18

Six Wilkes County students will graduate from Briarwood Academy during commencement exercises for the 21-member Class of 2007 at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at the Clinton H. Grant Field House at Briarwood.

The six Wilkes County graduates are Joseph Adams Batrous, Bonnie Elizabeth Bounds, Ali Denard Dyson, Elizabeth Forrest Grant, Angela Marie Kirkland, and Olivia Nicole Lyons.

The baccalaureate sermon will be delivered Sunday, May 13, at 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Dr. C. Gregory DeLoach, senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, will deliver the address. Briarwood choral members will present special music.

During the 37th commencement exercises on Friday, May 18, addresses will be delivered by Chase Wilson, valedictorian; Amanda Rutkowski, salutatorian; and Ali Dyson and Liz Grant, first honor graduates. Briarwood juniors and seniors will present special music.

Headmaster John T. Hammond will present the graduating Class of 2007; and Skip Griffin, chairman of the Briarwood Academy Board of Trustees, will award diplomas.

Junior Abby McAvoy of Washington will serve as a junior usher for this years graduating class.
