The rain which started Friday night with a lot of lightning and thunder was a welcome relief to a lot of people unless they had hay cut on the ground. I'm sure we need a lot more. ..Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Bonnie Creel of our community who passed away last week. She had many friends who will miss her along with her family. .. Jimmy Newsome as guest speaker Sunday morning. Monica Gunter led in the singing of old hymns with Pam Hall at the piano. Ethan Armour held children's church in the annex of the church. Denise Armour was in charge of the nursery. Sardis holds prayer meeting at the Echols home every Wednesday evening at 6:30. ..Vacation Bible School will be held at Sardis Baptist Church June 10-15, 7-9 p.m. The theme will be "Game Day Central: Where Heroes Are Made." For more information call Monica Gunter at 706-274-3808. ..J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright went to Athens to the Hawthorne Professional Park Radiology Clinic where Bonnie got started on her treatments Wednesday of last week. Bonnie feels pretty good right now and she and J.W. appreciate all the offers of help they have received. Family and friends are so wonderful. .. Maude Mauldin visited Doris Walker Friday morning. Doris visited Peggy Walker and Ann Walker Sunday afternoon. Doris is still a bit under the weather after a stay in the hospital in Athens. ..Lindley Hall attended a wonderful bridal shower Saturday honoring Andie Moody, bride elect of Marc Bridges, at the home of Erin Frost in Washington. ..J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright's visitors have been Johnny Boatwright, Kay Berry, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson, Nina Boatwright, James and Sharon Smith of Stephens. ..Sunday guests of Buck and Linda Echols were Greg and Angela Armour, Samantha and Hunter, Scott and Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., and Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank. .. James and Sharon Smith of Stephens came down Wednesday evening and treated J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright out to supper at the Home Cafe in Washington. ..Betty Berry and Peggy Echols attended the funeral service for Carrol Paul Sunday afternoon at Glade Baptist Church. ..Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed going to Zaxby's in Washington Monday evening where she was joined by Ann Gunter for a wonderful supper. .. Ruth Flynt has been under the weather and having tests in Athens. Her son Tony accompanied her to Athens Thursday and Friday. Her daughter Jane also came to be with them. ..Wilda Boatwright and Sudie Kennedy visited Hazel Webb in Thomson Sunday afternoon. ..Johnny and Kathryn Shedd and Gail Stewart visited Paul and Hannah Stewart Sunday afternoon. .. James, David, and Mathew Wideman visited George and Ann Wideman Sunday. David's friend Patricia also visited. .. Bonnie Boatwright visited Kay Berry and Trey and Bryson Porter Sunday after church and enjoyed lunch with them. ..Our prayers are with Blanche Armour of Washington who fell and broke her hip Sunday. ..Happy Mothers Day.
