Wilkes man to help tornado victims in small Kansas town

A Wilkes County man has taken the devastation of a small town in Kansas to heart, and is loading up a truck to take to the survivors as they struggle to rebuild.

The town of Greensburg, Kansas - population 1,800 - was 95 percent destroyed earlier this week by a powerful tornado, and Jason Tanner, owner of Bones' Biscuit Bar and Grill on Andrew Drive says he's got to do something to help the hurting small town.

Tanner is asking for Wilkes County citizens to help him fill a truck with non-perishable foods, dry goods, bottled water, canned goods, and toys, but not clothes. "They've lost everything, so I want to bring anything those folks can use," he said.

Donations can be brought to Bones' Biscuit Bar and Grill (the former Biscuit Place) on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday until 6 p.m. He'll be driving the truck himself to Kansas on Sunday. "I know can count on folks here to help," he said.
