Irene Mills

Funeral services for Irene "Goldie" Mills, 80, were held Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Charles Belton officiating. Interment was in City West Cemetery, Washington. She died Monday, April 30.

Mrs. Mills was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Ida Mae Evans and the late James Richardson. She was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, mother board, Sunday School, and Bible Study. She prepared the Lord's Supper each quarter. She was the widow of Johnny Mills.

Survivors include five children, Johnny Mills Jr., Thomas Mills, and Bobby Mills of Washington, Doris McLendon, Decatur, and Frank Mills, Marietta; a sister, Virginia Harris, Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Davenport & McLendon Mortuary Inc., Washington, was in charge of arrangements.
