Congratulations and best wishes to all the 2007 graduates. We are so proud of you. ..Sardis Baptist Church honored its 2007 graduates Sunday with an impressive service with Re. John Mark Carpenter coming to bring the message. Lindley Hall, Wright Gunter, and Trey Berry, graduates of Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School and Betina Armour, a graduate of Oglethorpe County High School in Lexington, were honored. They proudly marched down the aisle to accept gifts from the church. Rev. Carpenter praised them and told of some of their accomplishments and how he watched them as they grew up over the years. Rebekah Echols played the piano while Pam Hall led in the singing. Children's was held by Courtney Gunter in the annex of the church. After the service a bountiful meal was enjoyed by all in the annex. Everyone is always glad to see John Mark and Betty as they come back from time to tim4. Our prayers are with Rev. Carpenter as he has surgery this coming Friday in Gainesville. The Echols Home will hold prayer meeting Wednesday evening at 6:30. .. Everyone welcomes Rev. Jim Newsome as the new pastor of Sardis Baptist Church. He will be moving back here from Florida and will begin in September. ..J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright traveled to the Hawthorne Professional Park Radiology Clinic for Bonnie's radiation treatments every day Monday through Friday. By the time you read this I will have finished three weeks with four more weeks to go. So far everything is okay and I'm doing good. My voice comes and goes. I am having some other side effects of the radiation and it's going to get rough before it gets better, but we are hanging tough and with faith in God and friends like all o you, things are going good. ..Wednesday, J.W. and I joined Frankie Jones of Athens, Martha Jones of Bogart and James and Sharon Smith of Stephens at the Cracker Barrel for lunch. ..I try to go out and about because of the uplifting I get from everyone and lately I've seen many people that I have not seen in a while and they say such good uplifting things to me which I really appreciate very much. My visitors this last week have been Johnny Boatwright, Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter, Joann Perez, Richard Burkett, Ruth Flynt, Mary Burt, Rebecca and Raeleigh Armour, and Ruby Arnold. ..J.W. and I went to the W-WCHS graduation Friday night to see our grandson, Trey Berry, get his diploma. It was a very impressive ceremony which we enjoyed very much. It was good to see many people whom I hardly ever see. Afterwards, J.W. and I, Lamar and Kay Berry, Trey Berry, Brooke Berry, and Kaitlyn Porter enjoyed eating at the Pizza Hut. ..Prayers are continuing for Bonnie Boatwright, Pete Hardy, Bernice McAvoy, Pete Poss, Peggy Walker, Gary Rogers, Kathy Hendricks, Grady Rogers, Frances Vinson, Mike Webb, Stephanie Chapman, Kathryn Padgett, Roberta Roper, Debra Cato, Ellie Frey, Doug Eberhardt, Betsy Wynne, Pat Wynne, Betty Wynne, Marshall Sherrer, Mablean Sherrer, Brent Sherrer, Mike Woodall, Becky Thomason, Blanche Armour, Ruth Flynt, Carla Thaxton Brown, Preston Fry, Evelene Moon, Chris McAvoy, Tommy Wheatley, Thomas Wheatley, Joe Bufford, Leonard Fain, Mitchell Fain, Hunter Boswell, Joyce Bowen, Bonnie Coile, Richard Burkett, Fred Scoggins, Dorothy Callaway, Bill Remsen, Lindley Hall, Sara Lamar, Joyce Blackwell, Loyd Smith, Jimmy Coxwell, Richard Byrd, Patty Pendry, Rev. John Mark Carpenter, and rain. ..Ruth Flynt spent Thursday night in the hospital in Athens for a test. Her son, Tony Taylor, came and took her to Athens and the next day her daughter, Jane Bailey, brought her back home and spent time with her. Our prayers are for a good report. ..Kim Berry, Ruby Arnold, and Dorothy Callaway attended the honors day program at W-WES Thursday to see Aaliya Berry receive 15 awards. She received the presidential scholar award for being on the honor roll the entire year for the fourth and fifth grades; the Super Tiger award given by the principal; the Top Dog award in physical education; awards for accelerated reading and math programs; honor roll award; and awards for academic excellence in various other subjects. Her mom, Kim, is so proud of her for her accomplishments. ..Ruby Arnold, Kim Berry, and Aaliya Berry attended the graduation ceremony at W-WCHS Friday night to see Trey Berry receive his diploma. They had supper at McDonald's afterwards. ..George and Ann Wideman's visitors were James, David and Mathew Wideman, and Gene Winfrey. Ann visited Emilie Rorie at the Echols Home and Gene and Betty Winfrey. David Wideman celebrated his birthday Wednesday. ..Ruby Arnold visited Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Sunday afternoon. Ruby spent the rest of the afternoon with Kim and Aaliya Berry and enjoyed supper with them. ..Bonnie Boatwright visited Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey Sunday evneing and watched a movie with them. ..Ruby Arnold, Dorothy Callaway, Kim and Aaliya Berry and Crystal Byrom attended a candle show at the home of Robin Hubbard in Lexington Saturday afternoon. Kim, Aaliya and Crystal enjoyed going shopping Saturday. ..Y'all have a good week.
