Congratulations to all the 2007 graduates. Our granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth McAvoy, was among the W-WCHS Class that graduated Friday night. Among family members who attended were Shannon Thomason, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wallace of Lincoln County, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goff of McCormick, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Billy Butler of Lincoln County, Mrs. Nick Gaines and Trace Newsome of Winterville. Some of the McAvoy and Wheatley families were also in attendance. Some of our family had other obligations or were sick and could not attend. But we are proud of Taylor and wish her the best. Trace will graduate from Jackson County High School Friday, May 25. ..Happy birthday to all of you who are celebrating birthdays this week. Emily Linares will celebrate on May 24. ..Dr. Tom Cofer of Aiken, S.C., visited his aunt, Mrs. Jenelle Newsome, recently. Jamie Newsome of Martinez had supper with his grandmother last Friday. ..Kenneth Shank of Atlanta spent Sunday and Monday with his mother, Mrs. Dot Shank. ..Mr. and Mrs. Chris Standard, Hunter and Mason of Denham Springs, La., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Standard. Peyton Standard accompanied them home for a visit. Others visiting the Keith Standards were Sara Huff, Russell Goldman of Doraville, Bobby Ansley Jr., Cassie Goldman and Bryson. ..Rev. Rich Seibert preached at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Sunday. ..Barbara Adams has been visiting her daughter, Beverly Adams, at Woodstock. ..Mitch Taylor, Cassie and Bryson Goldman visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gibson in Union Point Friday. .. Bobbi Thornton visited Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway last week. ..Friends of David Van Hart would be interested in knowing that his mother, Mrs. Norman Van Hart, passed away on Mother's Day. She had been sick quite a number of years after suffering a stroke and was a patient in the Troy Community Hospital in Troy, Penn. We send the Van Hart family our love and sympathy. .. Shannon Thomason, Taylor McAvoy, and Sherry Newsome visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wallace in Lincoln County Sunday afternoon. ..Rebecca Phillips of Conyers spent Friday and Saturday at home visiting Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips. She attended graduation on Friday night at W-WCHS. ..Chip Haynes celebrated his fifth birthday May 8. He celebrated at school with a Spider Man theme party. He also celebrated at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips. His aunt, Becky Phillips of Conyers was a special guest. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips visited Mr. and Mrs. Steve Currie and Evan on May 7 in Greensboro, N.C. Evan returned home with his grandparents. The Curries visited in Washington on Mother's Day weekend and all attended church together. Evan returned home with his parents. ..Rev. and Mrs. Jimmy Chapman and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips enjoyed supper together at Zaxby's in Washington Friday night. On Saturday, Becky Phillips, Richard and Brenda enjoyed supper at Ryan's in Thomson. ..I visited patients at Wills Memorial Hospital last week. ..We had a real good day at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday. We had a nice crowd, good music, and good preaching. Dr. Dupree's message was "Lift Up Your Hearts." The text was taken from Acts 1:1- 14. We will have Vacation Bible School May 27-31 at Ebenezer. There will be a meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Classes will be held for kindergarten up to adults. Come and join in the fun and learn a lot while attending VBS. On Saturday, May 26, there will be a VBS kick-off with popcorn and a movie at 6 p.m. ..A sign on a Baptist Church in South Carolina reads, "Need a lifeguard? Ours walks on water." Pretty neat. ..Remember the homebound and elderly. They would love to see a smiling face this week. So visit someone and get a blessing. ..Our prayer concerns include Lisa Broom, Tim Barden, John Reed, Joann Barden, Billy Thornton, Milton Broome, Blanche Armour, Ruth Freeman, Henry and Blanche Wallace, Earnest Cathey, Linda Albea, Claire Nelson, Alan Thurmond, Pete Hardy, Joyce Sifre, Elmira Chafin, Wylie Dallas, Becky Thomasson, Priscilla and Morrison Maxwell, Bonnie Boatwright, Jenelle Newsome, Reba Thornton, Sara Huff, Bill Mobley, Lois South, Dot Shank, Ethel Harris, Mona Hall, Pete Strother, Oliver and Genelle Gill, Mildred Marett, Jane and Bennie Hudson, Sara Pruitt, the government, the churches, pastors, families who recently lost loved ones, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church Search Committee.
