Since opening less than two months ago for afternoon tea the Tea Room at Southern Elegance served its 100th guest on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Newcomer to Washington, Dana Kibbey was entertaining her daughter Richelle, sister-in-law Teri (Howell, Mi.) and mother-in-law Barbara (Ft. Pierce, Fl.), had heard about Jeanne's pecan pie and dropped in for tea and dessert. Dana, Barbara and Richelle, all previous guests of the bed and breakfast were pleased and surprised that they helped Jeanne reach this milestone with her new tea room.
The tea room was opened to lend support in boosting tourism by offering a place for locals, as well as tourists, to go after 2 p.m. when most downtown restaurants are closed. May of the tea room guests are from Washington, but most are tourists looking for a light lunch and a quiet escape. For Jeanne it has been a very rewarding if not profitable experience meeting so many people from out of town that she gets to tell all about how beautiful Washington is.
To all of you who have visited the Tea Room at Southern Elegance, our staff would like to thank you! We hope you enjoyed the experience and that you will tell others and come back again soon.
