Talks baseball to Kiwanians
Chris Demake, ticket sales manager for the Augusta Green Jackets baseball team, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, May 22. Demake described the operation and history of the Jackets, a Class A farm team of the San Francisco Giants. The Jackets are owned by Cal Ripkin Jr., formerly with the Baltimore Orioles, who also owns one other Class A Club. The Jackets have been quite successful in Augusta drawing an average of about 2,300 fans in attendance at each game, ranking No. 2 of the 176 farm league baseball teams. The Club experienced a 22 percent increase in attendance from 2005 to 2006. Carolyn Reynolds was the program host for the day.
