Let's hope everyone had a safe Memorial Day holiday. Many people have forgotten the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day. One interesting fact about this day is that it was once called Decoration Day because soldiers' graves were decorated with flags and flowers. Let's remember all those servicemen who have given their lives for our country. ..We failed to mention Kason Bradley's special guest at graduation in the paper last week and that was his great-grandmother Marie Bradley. Also present to hear Sydney was her family, Jeremy and Stephanie Pullen, Carson and Avery, and her other grandparents, R.L. and Janice Dunn, all of Elbert County. It's hard to believe a 10- year-old can sing with as strong a voice as she did, and I understand she sang this song for a talent show in Elberton. I know the family is very proud of her. We were also glad to have Sydney's mom, Stephanie, play the piano in the absence of Faye Lamar. .. Some of you may remember Kevin Hanel who worked at Callaway Farms several years ago and attended Tignall Baptist Church. He went into the ministry and moved to Oklahoma. He now lives in Texas with his wife Amy. We wee surprised to hear that they are expecting five babies. Amy has some health problems, so they need our prayers. ..Spending Memorial Day with Albert and Eudora Huyck were Thomas Huyck and daughters, Hanna Grace and Holland, of Macon. ..Spending the weekend with Marc and Heather Hammond were Teresa Martin and Ray Duffie of Murphy, N.C.
