Christopher Reid of Lincolnton was named Valedictorian of the Lincoln County High School Class of 2007 and was so honored as he delivered his address at graduation exercises Friday evening, May 18, at Buddy Bufford Field in Lincolnton.

Christopher, son of Chris and Lisa Reid of Lincolnton and grandson of Gene Reid and the late Billie Avrett Reid of Washington, has been in the top five percent of his class throughout high school.

At the academic awards ceremony Christopher won the Senior Math Award and the Senior Technology Award for having the highest cumulative averages in those subject areas. He was also designated Scholar-Athlete.

Earlier this spring, Christopher was named STAR Student for the Class of 2007. To attain this honor a student must be in the top ten percent of his class and have earned the highest score on the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

During his years at LCHS, Christopher was a member of the Senior Beta Club, the Spanish Honor Society, the Technology Student Association and the literary team. As a sophomore, he won first place in the Boys Spelling at the Region 7-A Literary Meet.

Christopher was selected as one of the seniors "Most Likely to Succeed" by the Class of 2007.

In addition to school, Christopher was been employed by H & H Industrial Maintenance, Inc., for a year and a half and is an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he is in charge of the sound equipment.

In his spare time, he also enjoys fishing and golfing. At LCHS he was a member of the golf team which placed eighth in the state last year.

Christopher plans to attend Augusta State University in the fall and later transfer to Georgia Tech to pursue a major in architectural engineering.

Christopher's parents were joined by his grandfather, Gene Reid, also Linda Guinn of Washington, for graduation and for a reception at St. Paul's United Methodist Church honoring Christopher, Russell Aycock and Marcus Ferguson and attended by a host of family and friends.
