Retiring Sara Dees honored at Memorial Day celebration

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Jamey Adkinson on Berkshire Drive was the scene of a Memorial Day celebration and the celebration of the retirement from teaching of Mrs. Sara Dees on May 26.

A number of friends and family members gathered in the backyard around a table festively decorated and filled with an abundance of food.

Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, chicken wings, fresh fruit, coleslaw, baked beans,, tossed salad, and deviled eggs were served with tea, lemonade and soft drinks. Pound cake and other foods completed the menu.

Family members attending included the hosts and Mrs. Dees, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lance of Lexington; Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Lance of Maxeys; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Lance of Athens; Rev. and Mrs. John Lance of Crawfordville; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foxworth of Rome; James Lance of Augusta, and friend, Keeley Sarringer of Washington; Elizabeth Barber and Chris Sizemore of Athens; Mrs. Iris Dyson, Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance of Washington. Other close friends and neighbors joined the family.
